Adapted from the UDC Rules, as written by ShiningIdeal
Items in italics are new, as of July 8, 2006 ~~ Moderator Azraelswrd
Titles
1. Writers are limited to two titles at any time. There are currently no restrictions on the category (Team or Solo). If a writer has more than two, he is not required to drop down to two titles.
A writer may claim another title if that title is a TEAM type, and there is at least another writer that will share in the writing duties. This will not be part of the "2 titles per writer" limit.
(Due to low number of active writers, I am raising the limit from 2 to 3 titles per writer. This may change as the needs arise. People who decide to write on 3 titles will obviously have more demands upon them to keep.)
2. Titles may be released at any time, however if you release a title you may not be able to reclaim it at a later date. The final decision is up to the mods. Furthermore, if you make a habit of releasing titles over a short period of time you will have your claiming priviledges curtailed.
3. Team titles are any title in which AT LEAST three heroes appear simultaneously on a regular basis. Solo titles focus on a single character, possibly with other supporting characters or a sidekick.
4. You may create new teams for your title to focus on. While you can create new heroes and villains, they may not be the star of a solo series nor may they make up the majority of a created team.
Claims
1. The state of claims may be checked at any time in the Authors Discuss board under the thread: Requests for Characters and a master list of claimed characters will be in the aptly named thread: Master Claims List.
2. Any unclaimed character may be claimed for any book, however all new titles and other claims must be approved. Only admins can actually modify the official Claims list, so your posts in the Requests sections will be looked over.
3. Characters may not be claimed for miniseries only. If you want to write a mini, they should either be your character or the character of another person you have permission for.
4. If a character is written in a team title, you may get permission from the author of the team title to write the character solo. Similarly, if there is a solo character you want in your team, you may obtain permission.
5. New titles will be allowed up to 15 character claims for that title to start with. This includes heroes, villains, and support personnel. More can be added over the successive months. This is to prevent excessive claiming.
After the first month, writers will be allowed to add 5 characters per month. This is PER writer, not per title. Choose your characters wisely.
Also, only 1 title may be claimed per month per writer. This is to give everyone a fair chance at writing something. Again, choose your title wisely.
6. There is a "courteousy" clause for this board, in which all claims must first to be checked with the author of the character most STRONGLY associated with him/her. For example, if I wanted to claim Dr. Doom (who is unclaimed) for my own story, I would need to check with the writer of Fantastic Four since Dr. Doom is STRONGLY associated with that series.
7. Alien or isolated races may be claimed by a writer, but they are considered "open" claims, available for other writers to use so long as they abide by established precendence, standards and prior protocols to secure continuity within all titles using said group/race. Examples include the Kree, Skrulls, Lilin, HYDRA, et al.
Deadlines
1. Each author should post at least one story a month. If they have multiple titles they must make sure no title goes without posting for two months. So if Azraelswrd is writing Commission and Ghost Rider, he can post Commission in one month, and Ghost Rider in the next, and be fine. However, he cannot post Commission one month, and then only Commission the next month; Ghost Rider can't go two months without a new issue. You're encouraged to post as much as you can, but at the bare minimum, that's what you should do.
2. The deadline is at the end of each month at midnight (Currently central time). If you have not posted at least one story by this time you will receive a warning as outlined in the punishment section.
3. New Writers/Titles Clause: If you begin a new title within the first two weeks of a month you will be expected to update it under that month's deadline. If it is after the first two weeks it will be in the next months deadline. However, it must be updated within those time spans. If you have multiple titles you may not leave it off to be the last title you update.
Punishments
1. If you fail to meet your deadlines you will receive a private message warning. You will have up to a month to update your claim. Frequent delinquencies may forfeit title or claims, deemed suitable upon mod recommendations.
2. Failing to meet the extension or missing a title frequently or after three months has passed will cause forfeiture of your title. You will not be able to reclaim your title for two months and must have at least two issues ready as a show of good faith. If your title is claimed before your waiting period is expired then you will have to wait or chose another.
3. While no one wants to play Miss Manners, if you act in a disruptive or rude manner, we have to take appropriate action. For minor offenses you will receive a warning via PM and if neccessary have your topic deleted. For greater offenses or repeated violations, if there is no other recourse, we will remove your account or IP ban anonymous users.
4. If a story is not updated after three months without prior notification to the mods, those claims will become subject to forfeiture to another writer for claims -- either in title or characters.
